People are calling to ask if we're going to be represented in booths at their state conventions this year because they want to see, share, and support us. We're not able to attend due to the turmoil of last winter, but we are doing our best to provide you with all the elements of a state convention booth right in your own home this summer!
First, we have revised our affiliate program from last year using brand new, state of the art software. This means that anyone who wants to can become a booth hostess from home and offer discounts or cash to their friends and acquaintances!
Second, our not being in specific locations means that you can take advantage of special conference discounts over the Internet. We have two specials running just for June, so you'll want to hurry and take advantage of them!
Third, you can plan to attend virtual conference workshop sessions via webinars that Scott and Marcia Somerville plan to offer over the course of the summer! Click on the tab above for more details—including a schedule of meeting times—in the coming days.

Come to a convention workshop online! Author Marcia Somerville will give you the exact same 45-minute introduction to the award-winning curriculum, Tapestry of Grace that she gives at conventions all over America, but you can participate from home via this webinar. Marcia will talk for about 45 minutes, and then take questions for 15 minutes. (To ask questions, you will need the use of a USB microphone or a telephone; you can listen either through your computer speakers or a headphone, or using the telephone.)
Tapestry is a classical, unit-study, multi-level curriculum that covers all the humanities (history, literature, writing, geography, arts, government, philosophy, and worldview studies) for all your students and on all learning levels. Marcia herself successfully homeschooled her six children (now grown) and led co-op classes using Tapestry in her church community. Since then, literally thousands of families have discovered the joyful, effective discipleship that Tapestry has to offer them as they homeschool their children to the glory of God.
In this session, Marcia explains to you in detail the principles that are woven into the Tapestry of Grace. Woven into this presenation are parenting tips, humor, and informative slides. She'll give you a vision for homeschool discipleship and show you how you really can teach multiple children on four learning levels the classics of Western Civilization from a Christian perspective and love doing it!
Seating is limited, so you'll want to sign up right away for this informative workshop!

In this extremely popular webinar, Marcia explains to parents the "big picture" of their goals when teaching writing to their homeschool students. This webinar is offered to parents of students of all ages, and will benefit both those who use Tapestry of Grace and those who don't. Marcia is an experienced homeschooler of 20+ years, and has taught writing to hundreds of students via her popular Writing Aids handbook for moms and students.
This summer, Marcia is offering this two-hour mini-seminar in two back-to-back one-hour sessions (with a break for dinner). This is Session 1 and lasts a full hour. In this session, Marcia takes you through the basic building blocks of good writing: word choices, sentence construction, paragraph formation, and joining paragraphs into longer works. She explains what your goals should be for younger, middle, and upper-level students, and (in Session 2) will teach you to grade your students' work according to the guidelines established in this session.
You could pay over $50 to hear this session in a conference context, but Marcia is offering it for free this summer. However, space is limited. You'll want to set aside an hour for this session and (if possible) another hour after dinner on Monday night. Please register separately for the two sessions, and note that each session has handouts that you should print for yourself before attending. These can be found at http://www.lampstandpress.com/conferences/handouts.
Space is limited, but please feel free to forward this email to as many people as you wish.

In this extremely popular webinar, Marcia follows up her first session (given earlier this afternoon) when she explained to parents the "big picture" of their goals when teaching writing to their homeschool students. This summer, Marcia is offering this two-hour mini-seminar in two back-to-back one-hour sessions (with a break for dinner).
Session 1 was scheduled from 3-4 PM and lasted a full hour. In this session, Marcia took parents through the basic building blocks of good writing: word choices, sentence construction, paragraph formation, and joining paragraphs into longer works. She explained what writing goals should be for younger, middle, and upper-level students, and then took some questions live.
In Writing Workshop II, Marcia will teach you to grade your students' work according to the guidelines established in Session I. Before you come to Writing Workshop II, be sure to print the handout that is available at http://www.lampstandpress.com/conferences/handouts. You'll need to have it in hand so that you can benefit from the Writing II session!
You could pay over $50 to hear this session in a conference context, but Marcia is offering it for free this summer. However, space is limited. Registration is separate for the two sessions, and if you missed Writing I, we recommend that you catch the next Writing I/Writing II combo, rather than attending Session 2 without the benefit of having heard Session 1.
While space is open, please feel free to forward this email to as many people as you wish. This session will be repeated through the summer, so they have the chance to catch it later even if this next session is full.
Hope we see you there, with your handout printed!

This is Marcia's favorite speech to give at conventions! She loves to remind teaching moms about the love and grace that God has given us to help us in the day in and day out of teaching our children. This summer, you can be encouraged via Internet during this upcoming webinar.
Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who homeschool. In this 50-minute session, Marcia shares her personal testimony of her fourteen-year battle with crippling fear has inspired many women to draw near to God, with life-changing results. If you have ever gotten so caught up in school you forgot why you're here, you need this message! It will help you (and your children) draw closer to One who makes all our efforts worthwhile.
In this session, too, Marcia weaves in an explanation of a helpful tool that she's created to help moms grow close to God. You can make this tool for yourself at home, or you can buy it ready-made at LampstandPress.com/store: it's called "Garden Tryst." So, make your favorite cuppa, draw up a chair to your computer, and prepare to be encouraged and inspired in practical ways as you are reminded that the nearness of God is your greatest good!
P.S. While you're registering for this session, take a look at the follow-up one: Teaching Devotion Techniques to our Kids: a Toolbox Approach.

Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who homeschool. In this 45-minute session, Marcia shares how, during the homeschool years, she equipped her children with a variety of ways to approach the Lord during devotional times.
Marcia has six grown children who are all leading fruitful Christian lives and serve as leaders in their contexts. In this session, she shares some parenting techniques with regards to interesting children in devotional times, and then shows you a variety of tools that you can use to help your children really interact with God in varied, flexible, and fruitful ways.
Like her Nearness of God talk, Marcia is sharing from the heart so that you can grow as both a disciple and as a trainer of children. So, make your favorite cuppa, draw up a chair to your computer, and prepare to be encouraged and inspired in practical ways that you can approach the Lord daily and lead your children to do so as well. After all, for them and for us, the nearness of God is our greatest good!
