Shopping at the Bookshelf

For the last year, we’ve been doing all we can to make the Lampstand Press Bookshelf the best way to steward your limited time and money. You may have noticed that we have created discounts, reduced prices, and added shipping options. For the summer months, we’ve added staff to keep up with telephone orders, and we’re working hard on our software to make online ordering easier all year round.

Given our efforts on the Bookshelf, it’s a pleasure to see emails like this from Tami, who wrote to her friends on the Loose Threads Yahoogroup:

I want to say that I spent the last 3 or 4 days doing a comparison with the Tapestry site on new books — their prices were great (rarely more than the competitor’s price) and even quite competitive with many used books considering shipping or fuel cost to get there (not even getting into time). I have not hit "proceed to checkout" yet on my Bookshelf books because I want to make sure that some of the "deals" I am trying for on [another site] don't get canceled before I hit that final send button, but I have 114 books on my list that were the same or less than the competitors price (or the used book was within about .75 with shipping so I went with new).

Just wanted to let you know that I already did the time for all of us :). It looks like Lampstand is really doing their best to be competitive and give us all the best deal on top of the BEST CURRICULUM!!!

Our Ever-Improving Website

We have two new additions to our website. Our First Steps page explains the whole process of setting up a new copy of Tapestry of Grace, from removing the shrink-wrap to settling into your new schedule.

We’ve also done major renovations at our Products Section to help new customers understand how optional products like MapAids or Pop Quiz can enhance our core curriculum.

One part of our website depends on you!. We’re updating the Find-A-Friend section of our site. If your name isn’t up on our map (or if you want to change or remove information), please send an email to Ray (ray@tapestryofgrace.com). Outdated entries will be deleted over the course of the next several weeks.

Homeschool Conferences

Lampstand Press has booths at 50 homeschool conferences this year, thanks to a little more than one hundred enthusiastic moms who love Tapestry enough to spend a weekend sharing it with other homeschool moms. We’ve gotten such a great response that we’re already looking forward to next year! If you would like to be considered for next year’s conferences, please join our Share & $ave program. We plan to give our existing Share & $ave affiliates first shot at signing up for conferences.

If you’re still waiting for your own state conference, our conference special this year is free shipping on your Bonus Bundle or items in the bonus bundle purchased separately. To qualify for this special, you must place your order at the conference, using your booth hostess’s Share & $ave Code. Online orders do not apply, and other Share & $ave codes are not eligible.

Please note that this conference special differs from last year’s conference special. In 2007, we had a special “conference code” that allowed a customer to get free shipping up to a week after the conference. We do not have any such conference codes this year.

Sharing Tapestry Through the Summer and Fall

Summer is a good time to invite friends to a Tapestry Tea. There’s an extra incentive to order Tapestry of Grace at a Tea—we add a $10.00 gift certificate to Tea orders. So many people are requesting Tea material that we’ve added it to our Lampstand Press Bookshelf. The materials for your Tea are still free, but we are now requiring a $10.00 deposit to order it online. As the summer comes to a close, local support groups start holding their back-to-school nights. If your group has some kind of fall kick-off meeting, we have free materials you can share with interested families in your group. Email Ally (ally@lampstandpress.com) to find out more.

Can You Replace a Loom Disc?

We have been receiving an increased number of calls regarding replacing CDs which have ended up in some interesting circumstances, such as under a couch somewhere or chewed on by the dog or the baby. We are happy to help out with this, so we have decided on a policy which replaces CDs for $9.95 plus $.99 shipping. This would apply only to customers who have previously purchased the products directly from Lampstand Press, such as Writing Aids CDs or Loom CDs that come free with curriculum purchases.

The Loom contains so much valuable copyrighted material that Lampstand Press does not sell it as a stand-alone item. If you’re selling a used copy of Tapestry, make sure you include the Loom! If you buy a previously owned year-plan, be sure that the Loom disk is included. Only the original Lampstand Press customer can get a replacement disc for their copy of Tapestry.

Year 3 Unit Information

We’re posting new material as we go as we work along at redesigning Year 3. The Year 3 Student Activity Pages and Supplements for Unit 1 are now posted on the Year 3 section of the Loom.

Many people who are just considering Tapestry for the first time are puzzled by the fact that we only list resource books for the first unit of Year 3. We realize that it would be more convenient to offer a list of books for the entire year up front, but we learned last year (as we redesigned Year 2) that we cannot pick the BEST books for a unit until we are actually working on it. Because we are committed to giving you the best curriculum we can, we decided to pick out Year 3 books one unit as a time. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Halfway Through Redesign

We can’t close this newsletter without thanking God for His faithfulness to us over the last two years. We are more than halfway though our four-year Redesign project. God has given us a wonderful development team which has reworked all of Year 1, all of Year 2, and have now sent the first unit of Year 3 off to the printers.

Along the way, God has given us dear friends who seem to see through the curriculum into the hearts that made it happen. Here’s what a mom named Deanna wrote us recently:

Marcia, I just want to thank you so much for your willingness to treat Tapestry, not just as a curriculum or a business, but as a way to disciple and teach and minister to us as women, wives, moms, and homeschool teachers, so we can do the same for our children. As I move into my 40's and become a Titus 2 "older women," I realize how few there are in this crazy, materialistic society who are willing to take time and effort to help younger women fulfill their calling. I am so thankful that you have responded to God's prompting in this area.

I will be praying for all of you there. Each time I get the new Redesigned Year 3 unit, I'll remember to pray for you as you develop the following ones. Please keep reminding us of your need for prayer support, and we will continue to uphold you.

God has been so good to us in so many ways. How can we thank Him enough for friends like Deanna, who have become so much more than “customers” to us? Thank you for making us a part of your homeschool journey!
